East-West Highway caves in near Daunne, transportation halted

NAWALPARASI/BANKE — The road section at Bardaghat Municipality-4 in Nawalparasi of Mahendra

has been caved in due to the incessant rain since Friday morning. One lane of the road section has completely been swept away due to the incessant rain which is one kilometer far from Daunne.

Following the heavy rain since Friday morning, the landslide in the road section between Daunne and Dumkibaas has interrupted the transport service in the area.

The local authorities are are being unable to remove the debris from the road to resume the transport service due to the continuous landslide in the area.

Due to the crack in the road, the vehicular movement has been halted and the passengers are stranded at the either side of the road, informed the local police unit of Bardaghat.

Likewise, the vehicular movement along the East-West Highway has been halted after the bridge over Gandheli River collapsed in Banke district.

Hundreds of vehicles and passengers have been stranded after the bridge collapsed due to the flood in the swollen river, triggered by torrential rainfall, according to Kohalpur-based Regional Traffic Police Office.
