7 killed, 4 injured in Rukum jeep accident

RUKUM — At least seven people were killed and four other were injured in a jeep accident in Musikot municipality-6 in the district on Friday night.

The deceased have been identified as just married Police Inspector Nabin Shrestha and his wife Police Inspector Anita Pradhan Shrestha of Rukumkot, Janak Sahi, Sudarshan Shrestha, Sher Bahadur Shrestha, Surekha Shah of Musikot municipality-1 and Yamuna Malla of Tribeni rural municipality-1, according to Rukum Distreict police office.

Victim Police Inspector duo was a staff at the Traffic Police Office in Surkhet, according to DSP Rajendra Prasad Dhamala.

The ill-feted jeep GA 1 JA 4260 heading towards Musikot, the headquarters of western Rukum from Rukumkot, the headquarters of eastern Rukum met an accident at around 8 pm yesterday night and fell some 100 meters down the road, informed DSP Dhamala.

Driver Prem Siujali Thapa of Tulsipur Sub metropolitan City-16, assistant driver Prem KC of Banfikot rural municipality and Tek Bahadur Khatri of Bardiya have been injured critically in the incident.

They have been referred to Nepalgunj for further treatment, DSP Dhamala said.

meanhwile, the plice are investigating the cause behind the accident.
