DHANGADHI — The Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) entered in to semifinals of ongoing Nepal Ice Sudurpaschim Khaptard Gold Cup on Thursday defeating Three Star Club (TSC) 2-1 played at the Regional Stadium in Dhangadhi.
Army striker Nawayug Shrestha broke the dead-lock on the sixth minute of the game, in first half. The departmental team created numerous chances to double their lead but could not.
Suman Aryal extended the departmental side’s lead in the 49th minute. Nirajan Khadka pulled a goal back for TSC in the 53th minute to make the score 2-1.
TSC could not get back in the game as it wasted multiple chances to score. TAC also failed to utilize a lot of goal scoring opportunities.
TAC’s skipper Bharat Khawas was declared the man-of-the-match and was rewarded with Rs 10,000 for his contribution.
TSC earlier defeated Jhapa XI 3-1 in its first match of the tournament to reach the quarterfinals on Monday, but the first division club could not continue its journey in the tournament.
During the post-match conference, TSC head coach Megh Raj KC conceded in spite of playing well team’s failure to score goals cost them the match. He said minor errors led TAC to notch two goals which proved them to be costly.
According to the organisers, Rupandehi XI will take on Manang Marshyangdi Club in today’s quarter-final of the tournament.
