Former footballer Mani Shah dies aged 51

KATHMANDU — Nepal’s young spinner Sandeep Lamichhane made his debut for Delhi Daredevils in the ongoing Indian Premier League on Saturday.

This comes on a day when Indian Prime MInister Narendra Modi praised Sandeep in an event in Nepal. Modi, who began his two-day visit to Nepal on Friday, pitched for ‘more sports’ engagement in future to connect the two countries.

For the first time in IPL’s history, Nepali player Sandeep was taking part in the matach. Coach Ricky Ponting handed debut cap to the only Nepali player in the IPL prior to the match.

Sandeep put on a brilliant performance for Delhi Daredevils claiming a wicket and giving just 25 runs from his four overs against Royal Challengers Bangalore in his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut.

His team Delhi Daredevils, however, lost the match against Bangalore by 5 wickets.

Sandeep opened the bowling for his side defending the 181 runs total. He claimed the wicket of Parthiv Patel in the fourth ball of his second over trapping him leg before.

Sandeep, 18, had spent previous 11 matches on the bench. With just three wins from 12 matches, his team Delhi lies at the bottom of the table with little chance of making into the play-offs.

Delhi had acquired Sandeep for IRs 2 million during the auction in November.
